The Archipelago is a fully immersive Virtual Reality experience that places us in a meditative, slowly shifting environment surrounded by 6 standalone 4k UHD Video Works from the Rubble series. Each video works stands at 30ft tall at human scale and the viewer is able to navigate through the environment either by physically moving in real life while wearing the headset, or by using the movement joystick on the controllers. The viewer is placed into an expansive, custom-built virtual environment, walking over a gently rippling body of water. The Archipelago displays a world of slow, constant, inescapable, incremental change, representative of the state of impermanence that I believe unifies the human experience. Encircled by video works from the Rubble series, The Archipelago questions the way that we traditionally view overlooked forms in our environment, reminding us of the slow, constantly changing atmospheric light that defines how we perceive and feel about the world around us.
